Students at JOES wrapped up celebrating National 4-H week by wearing green on Thursday. 4-H members also decorated posters promoting 4-h and members treated the faculty and staff to treats on Thursday!

The fourth grade students were honored to have a visit from Kaylayna Walker, a 2026 LSU graduate and Homecoming Queen, when she delivered copies of her books that Ms. Heather had purchased. She is the founder of Alo Bloom, a mentorship community for youth worth alopecia, and her book reminds children that "being different is a strength and courage can crown you before the world ever does." This book will be used in Ms. Heather's lessons for years to come!

The 2025-2026 Yearbooks have arrived and we have extra copies available for sale at $20 each. Students can bring the money to Ms. Heather in the Library and we will be selling them the next few weeks also.
Students in Mrs. Aimee’s third grade class are learning about the Bill of Rights. Students were assigned an amendment and they had to write about what that amendment means in their own words. 🇺🇸🐝

🏺 Bartering in Mesopotamia!
4th graders in Mrs. Alexis’s class brought history to life today! Students became farmers, weavers, carpenters, and more as they bartered goods. They quickly learned that their own community (group) couldn’t provide everything they needed, but trading with other settlements opened the door to new goods, ideas, and inventions! 🌾🧺🪵
Hands-on learning makes history so much more fun! 🤎

Students from JOES and GHs that scores at least 3 Mastery scores on the 2026 LEAP were rewarded. Students had the rides to themselves, they received snacks, water and a bag of Duck Festival swag. Thank you to Cajun Rides and The Duck Festival Association!
